The essence of an Oyster Rolex Watch

By | February 13, 2023

The watches in the Rolex Oyster Perpetual collection are symbols of universal and classic style while offering essential everyday functions – hours, minutes and seconds. Firmly rooted in Rolex’s pioneering origins, these models embody timeless form and function. They represent horology in its purest form.
A direct descendant of the original clone Rolex Oyster watch introduced in 1926, the Oyster Perpetual was the world’s first water-resistant watch and the foundation upon which Rolex built its reputation.
The Oyster Perpetual provides a clear and accurate time display – hours, minutes and seconds. The different versions of this watch stand out with subtle or vibrant dials, whether a delicate sunburst dial in silver, bright blue or glossy black or striking candy pink, turquoise blue or green lacquered dial. Available in five sizes – 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41 mm – the Oyster Perpetual offers the largest selection of diameters in the Rolex collection.
These models are paired with a three-piece link replica Rolex Oyster bracelet for security and comfort. It is equipped with a folding Oyster clasp and the Rolex-developed Easylink comfort extension link, which allows the wearer to adjust the length of the strap by approximately 5 mm.
The Oyster Perpetual is made entirely of Oyster steel. Oyster steel was developed especially for Rolex and belonged to the 904L steel family – the alloy most commonly used in the high-tech sector. Oyster steel is extremely resistant to corrosion and provides an excellent finish once polished and retains its luster over time.
The case of the imitation Rolex Oyster Perpetual guarantees water resistance to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet). Its middle case is made of a solid piece of Oyster steel. The edges of the case back are finely grooved and sealed and screwed down with a special tool that allows only certified Rolex watchmakers to access the movement.

Depending on the size, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual is equipped with the 2232 caliber or the 3230 caliber, self-winding mechanical movements entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. They excel in terms of precision, power reserve, shock resistance, convenience and reliability.
